Federal lists
The electoral system only provides Federal lists for European Elections but not for Bundestag Elections.
Federal lists are nominations from parties or other political associations submitting a combined list for all Länder to the Federal Returning Officer for European elections. Parties which have not been continuously represented by at least five deputies in the European Parliament, the German Bundestag or a Land parliament since the last election to the relevant assembly on the basis of nominations made in the electoral area by the party itself must present 4,000 supporting signatures of persons entitled to vote.
Apart from Federal lists a party or other political association may submit Land lists for European Elections like for Bundestag Elections.
