Press release no. 23/24 of 14. Mai 2024
2024 European election: persons eligible to vote will receive their voter’s notification by 19 May 2024
WIESBADEN – All persons entitled to vote who are listed in the electoral register for the 2024 European election will receive their voter’s notification from their municipal authority by 19 May 2024 at the latest, according to the Federal Returning Officer. The notification is proof that the voter is on the electoral register and therefore entitled to take part in the election.
The electoral register for the 2024 European election contains all eligible voters who were registered, with the address of their main place of residence, at the registration office of their municipality on 28 April 2024. The voter’s notification also indicates the polling station where voters may cast their votes on 9 June 2024. In addition, the notification contains information on how to apply for a polling card or postal ballot documents.
From 20 to 24 May 2024 the municipal authorities will make their electoral registers available for inspection on working days during their normal opening hours. Citizens who have not received their voter’s notification by 19 May 2024 should immediately contact the electoral office at their main place of residence to have their eligibility checked.
Eligible voters who have lost their voter's notification can nevertheless cast their vote. These voters have to prove their identity by presenting their identity card or passport at the polling station; eligible voters from other countries of the European Union must present their national identity card in such a case.
